Daniel Halsey is an experienced ecological designer working internationally in the temperate climates of North America, subtropics of Central America, Western and Southern Africa, cold and warm climates of Europe, and the extremes of Middle East. He enjoys the rigours of developing and teaching new strategies and researching the applied science behind ecological restoration and design. Using the United Designers ecological design process he has been called to work in community development in India, Africa, and the Hawaiian Islands. Since 2021 he has worked with residential developers to restore ecological resources during and after construction. Working with the Red Cross, Nature Conservancy, Sierra Club, and USAID Daniel brings his team of designers to build solutions for climate adaptation and resilience to disaster prone communities. He is a teaching specialist for the University of Minnesota and teaches in Haiti, Lebanon (Beirut), Costa Rica, South Africa, Spain, Canada, across the United States, and the United Kingdom. Daniel has a Bachelor of Science degree in Temperate Climate Polyculture Design and a Masters of Professional Studies in Horticulture from the University of Minnesota. He is a PRI Australia certified permaculture instructor and professional agro-ecosystems designer, director of the Permaculture Research Institute/USA, and managing partner of Natural Capital, LLC, Plant Database (A subscription service with 5000+ users in 70 countries).
